CVIP Awarded Travel Oregon Grant to Promote Chiloquin as a Tourism Destination
Chiloquin Visions in Progress (CVIP) has been awarded a $31,285 Travel Oregon Competitive Grant to lead a comprehensive tourism promotion initiative that will establish Chiloquin as a must-visit destination in Southern Oregon. Nestled near iconic landmarks like Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and Lake of the Woods, Chiloquin offers a rich array of attractions, such as Train Mountain, Collier Memorial State Park, Two Rivers Art Gallery, the KLA-MO-YA Casino, local kayaking opportunities, and the annual Chi-Town Family Festival. Despite these assets, Chiloquin has historically been underrepresented in regional tourism marketing efforts.
This funded project will directly address that gap through a multi-faceted promotional strategy. A central component is the creation of a series of 10–15 short promotional videos that highlight Chiloquin’s natural beauty, recreational opportunities, cultural attractions, and local businesses. These videos will feature inclusive, culturally relevant storytelling, including collaboration with The Klamath Tribes, to celebrate the area’s Indigenous heritage and community voices. This initiative will showcase our region’s incredible cultural, historical, and recreational assets, including Train Mountain, Collier Memorial State Park, the Two Rivers Art Gallery, KLA-MO-YA Casino, the Chi-Town Family Festival, and local opportunities for kayaking, hiking, and fishing.
The campaign will include:
-
A series of professional short videos highlighting local attractions and experiences
-
Print ads in AAA Via Magazine and Travel Southern Oregon’s visitor guide
-
Targeted online and social media advertising
-
Printed rack cards distributed regionally
-
In-gallery video displays at the Two Rivers Art Gallery and Gift Shop
We will also work closely with The Klamath Tribes to ensure Indigenous perspectives, stories, and artwork are reflected in this campaign. Promotional materials will be featured online and across regional visitor platforms beginning in early 2026.
This project is a key component of CVIP’s 2024–2028 Strategic Plan, which aims to strengthen local economies, celebrate arts and culture, and increase visibility for Chiloquin and North Klamath County. Currently, CVIP is establishing a project team consisting of local stakeholders and regional partners. This team will oversee planning, production, and implementation, ensuring the project aligns with community values and regional tourism goals. A detailed project timeline includes production milestones, ad placements, and content launches leading up to and throughout the 2026 peak tourism season.
Together, these efforts will help transform Chiloquin from a pass-through town into a dynamic, welcoming destination. The campaign will drive overnight stays, increase visitor spending, and create long-term economic opportunities for local businesses, artists, and service providers. By highlighting Chiloquin’s identity, history, and forward-looking investments, such as the recently installed electric vehicle (EV) charging stations by CVIP, this project will ensure the community is positioned for sustained tourism growth that is inclusive, culturally respectful, and economically impactful.
This project has been funded in part by a grant from Travel Oregon.
We thank Travel Oregon for this incredible opportunity and our partners at Discover Klamath, the City of Chiloquin, and others for helping bring this project to life.
