Discover Chiloquin: Oregon’s Hidden Gateway

Last Updated 4/15/2026Posted in Tourism

If you’ve ever passed through Chiloquin on your way to Crater Lake, you’re not alone. For years, our town has been seen as a stop along the way.

But here’s the truth: Chiloquin isn’t just on the way—it’s part of the destination.

A New Way to Tell Our Story

Thanks to funding from Travel Oregon, Chiloquin Visions in Progress (CVIP) launched a tourism project to change how people see our community.

The goal was simple:

Show the world that there’s more to do here than just visit Crater Lake.

We created a series of short, high-quality videos that highlight what makes Chiloquin special: our outdoor recreation, local businesses, culture, and people. These videos are designed to inspire travelers to stay longer, explore deeper, and support our local economy.

Reaching the Right Audience

This project wasn’t just about making videos; it was about getting them in front of the right people.

Through strategic partnerships, Chiloquin is now being promoted across multiple platforms:

  • A print advertisement in AAA’s Via Magazine, reaching over 500,000 readers across Oregon and Idaho
  • Digital advertising on Travel Southern Oregon’s website, which attracts over 129,000 users annually
  • A new rack card distributed at visitor centers across the region
  • A dedicated online video page hosted through Discover Klamath:  https://www.discoverklamath.com/chiloquin, where you can check out the videos

This approach ensures that when travelers are planning their trip, Chiloquin is part of the conversation.

What Visitors Will Discover

Chiloquin offers something for everyone:

  • Outdoor Adventure – Kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, and wildlife viewing
  • Unique Attractions – Train Mountain, Collier Memorial State Park, KLA-MO-YA Casino, and our own Two Rivers Gallery and Gift Shop
  • Local Flavor – Restaurants, lodging, small businesses, and community events
  • Relaxation – Quiet spaces, natural beauty, and a slower pace of life

It’s the kind of place where you can explore in the morning, connect with people in the afternoon, and unwind under the stars at night.

Why This Matters

Tourism isn’t just about visitors, it’s about opportunity.

For Chiloquin, this project helps:

  • Support local businesses
  • Create new economic activity
  • Build community pride
  • Share our story in an authentic way

When people choose to stop, stay, and spend time here, it strengthens our entire community.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning.

As more content rolls out and more travelers discover Chiloquin, we’ll continue building on this momentum, finding new ways to promote our community while staying true to what makes it special.

Because at the end of the day, Chiloquin isn’t trying to be something it’s not.

We’re simply inviting people to experience what we already know:

This place is worth the stop.
