The Chiloquin After-School Bike Club is an after-school program that gives students the opportunity to get outside, stay active, and build confidence through mountain biking and outdoor recreation. Open to Chiloquin students in 2nd–12th grade, the program provides a fun, supportive environment where youth can develop bike-handling skills, learn safe riding practices, and explore the trails at the Chiloquin Bike Park. Programs are offered seasonally for different grade groups throughout the year, helping students of all experience levels participate and grow.
Students are transported from local schools to the bike park, where they receive bikes, helmets, snacks, and access to a welcoming community of riders and mentors. Whether students are experienced riders or still building confidence on the trails, Bike Club focuses on building confidence, teamwork, resilience, and healthy habits while creating positive connections with peers and supportive adults.
As part of Chiloquin Visions in Progress, the Bike Club reflects a commitment to creating active, community-centered opportunities that support youth development both on and off the bike.

The Chiloquin Strider Bike Program introduces all kindergarten and 1st grade students at Chiloquin Elementary to the fundamentals of riding a bike during PE class. Using a fleet of Strider balance bikes and helmets provided through the program, students learn balance, coordination, safety, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment.
By integrating bike education directly into the school day, the program helps ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn how to ride, regardless of whether they have access to a bike at home. The Strider Bike Program creates an early foundation for healthy activity, outdoor recreation, and self-confidence while preparing students to participate in the Chiloquin Bike Club beginning in 2nd grade.
The Chiloquin Bike Club is proud to take part in the annual Chi-Town Family Festival by hosting a two-day Bike Rodeo for local youth. This hands-on event gives kids a fun and safe space to practice essential riding skills through obstacle courses, balance challenges, and guided activities. Whether they are brand new riders or already comfortable on a bike, participants can build confidence while learning the basics of control, awareness, and safety.
Throughout the festival, Bike Club volunteers and leaders will be on hand to coach, encourage, and celebrate each rider’s progress. The Bike Rodeo is more than just an activity; it’s an opportunity to introduce families to the program, promote safe riding habits, and create a positive, high-energy space for kids to stay active. It’s just one more way the Chiloquin Bike Club brings learning, fun, and community together.
The Chiloquin Bike Club also takes part in the City’s annual Fourth of July Parade, giving students a chance to showcase their skills and celebrate with the community. Riders have the opportunity to decorate their bikes, ride together as a group, and be part of one of Chiloquin’s most cherished traditions. It’s a fun and meaningful way for participants to build pride, connect with others, and represent the positive impact of the Bike Club.
A bike club offers more than just a place to ride; it gives young people a chance to grow. Through regular activity, students build confidence as they learn new skills, overcome challenges, and see their own progress over time. For many youth, having a supportive space where they can try, improve, and succeed makes a lasting difference in how they see themselves and what they believe they can achieve.
The bike club also promotes healthy habits that can carry into adulthood. Riding a bike improves physical fitness, reduces stress, and encourages kids to spend more time outdoors. In a time when many activities are screen-based, programs like this provide a positive alternative that supports both physical and mental well-being in a fun and engaging way.
Just as important, the bike club creates a sense of belonging. Students build friendships, learn teamwork, and connect with positive role models in a safe and welcoming environment. These relationships help strengthen social skills and give youth a place where they feel supported and valued. By bringing kids together around a shared activity, the bike club helps build a stronger, more connected community.
