CTAC Week 3: Discovering Wellness, Recreation, and New Experiences
Another exciting week at the Chiloquin Teen Adventure Camp gave participants the opportunity to discover new activities, build healthy habits, and create lasting memories through a variety of hands-on experiences.
This week, campers explored the important work of Badger Run Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, where they learned about Oregon's native wildlife and the care involved in rescuing, rehabilitating, and releasing injured animals. The experience introduced participants to careers in wildlife conservation while fostering a greater appreciation for the natural world.
Health and wellness were also key themes as campers participated in a hands-on cooking class at the Sky Lakes Wellness Center. They learned basic cooking techniques, explored nutritious ingredients, and discovered how preparing healthy meals can contribute to lifelong wellness. For many, it was an opportunity to build confidence in the kitchen while developing practical life skills they can use at home.
The week also included plenty of opportunities for recreation and personal growth. At the Running Y Resort, many participants laced up a pair of ice skates for the very first time, embracing the challenge with enthusiasm and encouraging one another along the way. The fun continued with a round of mini golf, where friendly competition encouraged teamwork, patience, sportsmanship, and plenty of smiles.
Throughout the week, campers discovered that learning happens in many different ways. Whether caring for wildlife, preparing healthy meals, trying a new sport, or encouraging a friend, every activity helped participants build confidence, strengthen friendships, and develop skills that extend well beyond the classroom.
A special thank you to Badger Run Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Sky Lakes Wellness Center, and the Running Y Resort for partnering with CTAC to provide these outstanding experiences. Their support helps make the Chiloquin Teen Adventure Camp a unique opportunity for local teens to explore new interests, discover future possibilities, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
As the summer continues, we look forward to even more adventures, learning opportunities, and experiences that inspire our campers to grow, explore, and dream big.
