A Summer of Learning, Creativity, and Fun at the Community Center

August was a busy and exciting month at the Chiloquin Community Center, filled with activities that kept kids and teens engaged, active, and inspired. Thanks to the support of our partners, volunteers, and families, the Community Center became a hub of learning, creativity, and fun all summer long.

The Chiloquin Teen Adventure Camp (CTAC) concluded its first year with a series of memorable activities. Teens explored the outdoors, visited local destinations, and even gave back through community service projects. From kayaking and hiking to helping with park improvements, CTAC provided meaningful experiences that built teamwork, confidence, and community pride.

For younger children, the Summer Arts for Kids program, conducted by Two Rivers Art Gallery and the Chiloquin Library, opened doors to creativity. Kids painted, crafted, and explored new artistic skills while connecting with peers and building confidence through hands-on projects. The program was a wonderful reminder of how art can spark imagination and bring joy.

Adding a new dimension to the summer lineup, Oregon Tech brought its LEGO Camp to Chiloquin. Kids dove into design and robotics, building creations that combined engineering with play. This unique opportunity introduced students to STEM concepts in a way that was both challenging and fun.

In addition to these programs, the Community Center also hosted the Dressed for School clothing giveaway, ensuring that children and families in Chiloquin had access to school clothes and supplies as they prepared for the new school year. Sponsored by Healthy Klamath, Just Serve, and CVIP, this event highlighted the power of community collaboration to meet real needs and support families right where they are.

Altogether, August showed what happens when a community comes together to invest in its youth. The Community Center was alive with laughter, discovery, and generosity, proof that summer learning can be just as exciting as summer play, and that caring for one another makes us stronger together.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who made these programs possible, and especially to the kids and teens who made the Community Center such a vibrant place this summer.
