New RecycleOn Center Opens in Chiloquin

Chiloquin residents now have a free, convenient way to recycle several materials that currently have no place to go.

Chiloquin Visions in Progress has opened a new RecycleOn Center in the parking lot of the Chiloquin Community Center at 140 South First Avenue. The Center is open to everyone, and there is no charge to use it.

Hours

• Tuesday through Friday: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

• Saturday: 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

• Sunday and Monday: Closed

The Center includes clearly marked collection bins, bilingual signs, an accessible entrance ramp, and an A-frame sign displayed during operating hours.

What Can Be Recycled?

The Chiloquin RecycleOn Center currently accepts five material categories.

Plastic Bags and Stretchy Plastics

Plastic bags and other stretchy plastic must be empty and dry. A simple test is to pull the plastic with your finger. If it stretches instead of tearing or making a crinkling sound, it will usually be accepted.

Plastic Lids, Caps, and Package Handles

Clean and dry plastic lids, caps, and rigid plastic package handles are accepted. Examples include lids from yogurt or salsa containers, screw-on plastic caps, and rigid six-pack handles.

Please do not include plastic bottles, clamshell containers, or #1 PET lids.

Aluminum Foil and Trays

Aluminum foil and trays must be empty and dry.

Metal cans, metal lids, other non-foil metals, hoses, cords, and wires are not accepted in this bin.

Shredded Paper

Place shredded paper in a paper bag. Roll or staple the bag closed before placing it in the bin.

Plastic Buckets and Pails

Plastic buckets and pails are accepted, and you may include their lids.

Do not bring containers that held automotive fluids, pesticides, herbicides, or other hazardous materials.

Please Recycle Carefully

Only materials listed on the signs may be placed in the collection bins. All materials should be clean, empty, and dry unless the sign says otherwise.

Please do not leave trash, hazardous materials, batteries, electronics, bottles, cans, or other unapproved items at the Center. Leaving the wrong materials can contaminate an entire collection and increase the cost of recycling.

Expanding Recycling Access in Chiloquin

RecycleOn Centers are being established throughout Oregon as part of the state’s effort to make recycling easier and more accessible. More than 140 locations are expected to open across Oregon by the end of 2027.

These centers collect materials that are recyclable but are often difficult to include in regular recycling programs. The RecycleOn program transports the collected materials for sorting and processing.

CVIP is pleased to bring this new service to Chiloquin. The Center gives residents another practical way to reduce waste while keeping reusable materials out of the landfill.
